Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in my first therapy session?
Please go to www.NewLeafOK.com to download forms prior to your first session.  You will need to print out both the Client Intake Form and the Client Services Contract.  If you are unable to download and fill these forms out in advance, please let me know and I will leave paperwork in the lobby for you to fill out.  Please arrive 20 minutes early to your appointment to complete paperwork if so.  Once in session, we will go over the paperwork together and I will answer any questions you might have.  Following that, our first session will be focused on insuring that I understand your needs and goals and on establishing a course of action that feels comfortable for you.  At the end of our first session we will together assess whether or not it feels like I am a good fit to be helpful to you.  If for any reason that is not the case, I will be happy to make recommendations.

Do you take insurance or do you have a sliding scale?
Yes.  Please contact me to ascertain if I am on your insurer's panel or if we will need to bill out of network.  Typically, you will pay a co-pay or a percentage of the fee at the time of service and I can bill your insurer for their portion.  Some insurance companies require that you pay in full for all sessions and that they (the insurer) reimburse you for their portion.  If this is the case, my office would be happy to file the claim as a convenience to you.  I also provide a sliding scale to cash clients upon request.

What forms of payment do you take?
Cash or check at the time of services or you may choose to pay by credit card using PayPal on the contact page of this site on the day of services prior to the time of your appointment.  Please contact me to schedule sessions prior to making a payment via PayPal.

How do I schedule my first session?
Please contact me by phone. There is no charge for an initial phone consultation, it simply provides a time for us to establish whether or not it appears that I will be a good fit for you as a therapist. I am always happy to provide referrals if it appears that you would be better served by another professional. If at the end of our phone conversation both you and I feel that I can be helpful to you we will schedule an appointment at that time.

What is the frequency and duration of treatment?
Typically, I see clients on a weekly basis, however, there are times that at a client's request or on my recommendation a client may be seen more frequently for a time.  Duration of treatment depends upon your needs and goals.

Do I have to be in crisis to come to therapy?
Absolutely not! Some clients do originally come in during a time of crisis, while others are simply desirous of the growth experience that therapy can provide.
