Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in my first therapy session?
I practice with Transforming Life Counseling Center. Prior to our first session, please go to TLCC's website and click on the forms tab. From there you should be able to print out all of the necessary forms for you to fill out. Please complete the forms and bring them in with you. If for any reason you are unable to print the forms please call me so that I can leave blank forms for you in the lobby to fill out prior to our first session. Our first session will be focused on insuring that I understand your needs and goals and on establishing a course of action that feels comfortable for you.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. Please contact me to ascertain if I am on your insurer's panel or if we will need to bill out of network. Typically, you will pay a co-pay or a percentage of the fee at the time of service and I can bill your insurer for their portion. Some insurance companies require that you pay in full for all sessions and that they (the insurer) reimburse you for their portion. If this is the case, my office would be happy to file the claim as a convenience to you.
What forms of payment do you take?
Cash or check at the time of services or you may choose to pay by credit card using PayPal on the contact page of this site on the day of services prior to the time of your appointment. Please contact Tara to schedule sessions prior to making a payment via PayPal.
How do I schedule my first session?
Please contact me by phone. There is no charge for an initial phone consultation, it simply provides a time for us to establish whether or not it appears that I will be a good fit for you as a therapist. I am always happy to provide referrals if it appears that you would be better served by another professional. If at the end of our phone conversation both you and I feel that I can be helpful to you we will schedule an appointment at that time.
What is the frequency and duration of treatment?
Typically, I see clients on a weekly basis, however, there are times that at a client's request or on my recommendation a client may be seen more frequently for a time. Duration of treatment depends upon your needs and goals.
Do I have to be in crisis to come to therapy?
Absolutely not! Some clients do originally come in during a time of crisis, while others are simply desirous of the growth experience that therapy can provide.
